I started writing out my ideas for these videos months before ever shared one. I needed time to first, process all my thoughts; and then find the confidence to share them. Just as I finally began sharing these videos in this setting, I picked up a book that I had been dying to read: Call of the Wild and Free. At first when I read it, I started to feel small. She shared so many of the exact same thoughts and ideas that I had just begun to share. I worried what people might think, and that I would be branded a fake.
But as I sat with those feelings of being an imposter…it occurred to me that this is actually a miraculous occurrence. How could it have been possible for me to have identical thoughts and feelings to a complete stranger? The best answer I could think of was that we had both been taught the same truths by divinity.
So many mothers have come to me, wondering how they’ll ever be able to teach their babies everything alone. Sometimes my answer has been that they are ever more capable than they’re giving themselves credit for. But to a few I have shared another idea: We are never teaching our children alone.
I swear I have a team of angels at my side every school day, telling me where to look for answers to the endless questions born of abounding curiosity. They whisper reminders in my ears, refreshing my memory of things I haven’t thought of for decades.
These angels have also taught me how to meet my children exactly where they are, and teach them in the unique ways that each of them understand things.
They whisper peace to my heart on the days where nothing is working, and fighting is rampant, and I haven’t had enough sleep. They tell me when I’ve reached my limits, and remind me that it’s ok to call it a day, and take a break.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve had a strong feeling about a random thought, that turned into a unique belief, and then heard somebody else speak the words that I thought were my own. That, to me, is evidence of pure truth, shared to our hearts by divinity. I can think of no other explanation.
Please don’t fear that you can’t do this on your own, or that you’re not equipped with adequate knowledge. Don’t worry, sweet mama. You are not doing this alone. Not for a second.
